Meet fellow pilgrims in the Koringberg and settle in. Arrive anytime after 4pm and before dark.
Day 1: Koringberg ➝ Wittewater (20km)
The route follows grassy walkways through open farmland, ending at a community-run stay. It’s often at Wittewater and your next stop Goedverwacht that the heart of Cape Camino is most clearly felt. Your rest house is a community stay.
Day 2: Wittwater ➝ Goedverwacht (14km)
Goedverwacht, where the warmth of the community is palpable. This hidden gem thrives on its own produce, offering a true sense of self-sufficiency and hospitality. Your rest house is a community stay.
Day 3: Goedverwacht Rock Shelter (8km)
Spend the day walking to the rock shelter and learn about the indigenous history. Transport will take you to Kapteinskloof or Sterkfontein depending on your itinerary. Both are farm stays.
Day 4: Kapteinskloof or Sterkfontein ➝ Aurora (23km)
Private farm lands take you to the small town of Aurora. This area is special in wildflower season. Your rest house in Aurora is with Jan & Hester Brink who offer home stay accommodation.
Day 5: Aurora ➝ RoesRus Williekamp Farm Stay (18km)
Gravel roads lead you through rooibos plantations to Gezie's Farm, another small Camino rest house that provides accommodation to pilgrims in their homes.
Day 6: RoesRus Williekamp Farm Stay ➝ Redelinghuys (9km)
Redelinghuys is famous for the art murals and artists who live in the town. The natural setting is unique and special.
Day 7: Redelinghuys ➝ Elands Bay (10km)
Transport drops you along the beach and you walk 10km to Elands Bay. Tide check is a must.
Day 8: Elands Bay ➝ Fork West Backpackers (27km)
Today’s route is physically demanding, with little shade or shelter, and requires careful planning around tides. The landscape is open and raw. Fork West Backpacker is a rustic, family-owned rest house. Facilities are shared and very basic. There is a glamping upgrade available for your own arrangements and not on weekends.
Day 9: Fork West Backpackers ➝ Arend Louw (9km)
Another beach walk, planning around tides. This section is shorter but climbs steadily through soft sand and low coastal dunes. Arend, your host, is a well-known artist in the area.
Day 10: Arend Louw ➝ Dwarskersbos (23km)
Today's walk is mostly flat along the beach. Dwarskersbos is a small village with one cafe'
