3-Day Cape Camino: Make Your Own Cheese

Walk 40km along the West Coast, and end with a cheese making course at the famous Afsaal Padstal. Alta from Afsaal is famous for her cheese and on your last day you'll learn to make (and take home) her special halloumi and feta cheeses. Depending on the weather you may get wildflowers!

Camino Itinerary

Day 0, 26 Oct: Arrival at Lampiesbaai rest house

Meet fellow pilgrims and settle into the rest house. Arrive anytime after 4pm and before dark.

Day 1, 27 Oct: Lampiesbaai ➝ Paternoster (23km)

In wildflower season (late July-September) this area is popular.

Day 2, 28 Oct: Paternoster ➝ Afsaal (17km)

Some sections are tough, with loose stones and uneven paths, sturdy shoes are essential. Chaperones from Pelgrims Place Rehabilitation Centre walk with you. Tides and terrain shift often, so stay alert and open to the unexpected.

Cheese-making course in the afternoon.

Day 3, 29 Oct: Afsaal

Leave after breakfast.

Or an optional walk to Jacobs Bay (17km) Self Navigated
