Camino Itinerary
Day 0: Arrival at Arend Louw
Meet and greet your host Arend at his home in the Sandveld. Arrive anytime after 4pm and before dark. Welcome dinner with local cuisine provided.
Day 1: Arend Louw's Art Class
"All my paintings are created with intent. Not just to please the viewer but to convey an emotion that that specific moment has stirred in me. I work in oils as it is lenient to mistakes and demand contemplation." Arend Louw
Arend will take you on an art journey during his lesson.
Day 2: Arend Louw ➝ Klein Tafelberg (18-23km)
Walk inland over dunes and through the Sandveld- a straightforward and easy to navigate section.
Day 3: Klein Tafelberg ➝ Redelinghuys (24-26km)
Redelinghuys is a famous artist's town.
An easy walk into the town takes you past art wall murals and to the Manor- a grand rest house hosted by Janet. After lunch set off on a leisurely art walk through the town with a local companion.
Day 4: Redelinghuys ➝ Wild West Coast (24km)
A sandy path over hills takes you to a very special, off-grid rest house out of town. You stay in eco-cabins far from any town. Stargazing is must-do on clear nights.
Day 5: Wild West Coast (10km)
You’ll walk with your chaperone to a nearby cave that looks out over the Sandveld. Once there, you'll do a guided art class, using watercolours.
Day 6: Wild West Coast ➝ Diepkloof Rock Shelter (24km)
Walk along a sandy hillside track. You’ll be transported a short distance and taken to Diepkloof Rock Shelter, known for its early evidence of human symbolic thought and ancient engraved ostrich eggshells- now a World Heritage Site.
Your Camino ends after your walk down from Diepkloof.
